Pinewood Derby Rules

Posted on Jan 6 2025 - 4:46pm

Our pinewood derby is approaching and the rules from our council are attached to this announcement. To highlight a few things in them:

Clearance between car bottom and track – no less than ⅜ inch.  This just means don't add any weights to the bottom, and don't put the wheels in higher than the precut grove in the car.

Conservation Service Project - Collect Pumpkins and Feed the Cows

Posted on Nov 4 2024 - 9:38am

Pack 901 is participating in a special fall conservation service project as part of the Champions for Nature elective adventure.  We will be collecting pumpkins after Halloween that people wish to dispose of, and then bringing them to a private farm in the Cornland area to feed to the cows!  This will save the pumpkins from the landfill and provide a tasty treat to some well-deserving cows!  The idea is for scouts to collect Halloween pumpkins the week after Halloween starting November 1st and then you will transport whatever your scout collected to feed to the cows that weekend or at a later date.  You will not need to bring the pumpkins to STE.  I am working out with the owner when the scouts can come, but first I need to know how many scouts are committed to doing this so we can plan on the date or dates since this is a private home for parking space and the cows may not be able to eat all our pumpkins at once!  The cows LOVE it and it is a lot of fun to watch them enjoying their snack.
